Before you begin: Always read the directions on the product label first. Work on a cool surface, out of direct sunlight, and test the product in a small, inconspicuous area before applying it across the full vehicle.

1. Start with a clean surface. Rinse away loose dirt and debris first. If the product is designed for paint, glass, trim, wheels, or interior surfaces, make sure that area is properly cleaned before application.
2. Use the right towel or applicator. Use a clean microfiber towel, foam applicator, or detailing pad depending on the product type. Avoid dirty towels, household rags, or abrasive materials that can introduce scratches.
3. Apply in controlled sections. Work one panel or small area at a time. This helps prevent streaking, uneven coverage, or product drying before you can properly wipe or level it.
4. Use less product than you think. Premium detailing products usually perform best when applied in thin, even layers. Over-applying can create residue, streaks, or unnecessary wipe-off work.
5. Wipe, level, or buff as directed. Follow the product label for dwell time and removal. Use light pressure, flip your towel often, and replace towels as they become saturated.
6. Inspect your finish. Look at the surface from multiple angles under good lighting. If you see streaks or high spots, lightly re-wipe the area with a clean microfiber towel.
7. Maintain the result. Keep the surface clean between full details and avoid harsh chemicals unless the product label specifically allows them. Consistent maintenance usually produces better long-term results than heavy correction after neglect.
